Picture
Tibbitts Maple will be participating in the New York State Maple Weekends on March 19th & 20th and again on March 26th & 27th each day from 10am-4pm at Tibbitts Maple on Tibbitts Road New Hartford, NY.  The event is free and open to the public.

During Maple Weekend, maple producers from across New York state welcome families to their farms to experience firsthand how real, mouth-watering maple syrup and other related products are made. Tibbitts Maple will be providing tours of their facility, samples of their maple products, recipes and cooking tips. Pure New York state maple products will also be available for sale. Tap into something new this spring and make our five generation family tradition your new tradition.

The festivities will begin with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony by the New Hartford Chamber of Commerce on Saturday March 19th at 10am. The public is encouraged to join chamber board members and town officials in welcoming Tibbitts Maple to its membership and in kicking off the Maple Weekend festivities.

About Tibbitts Maple
Tibbitts Maple has been making quality pure maple products for four generations. Although the current facility has been in use since 1984 our tradition began with the first generation, Friend Tibbitts, making maple syrup on the Tibbitts homestead located on Tibbitts Road in New Hartford, New York.

In 1984, shortly after the fourth generation was born, Gordon started tapping and producing maple syrup again. He started with 11 buckets and boiled in a stockpot on a 1/2 barrel in the driveway. He and his wife Kristen made one quart and one pint that year.

The fourth generation, Gordon Kyle and Kaitlin quickly became interested in producing maple syrup. In 1990 the current sugarhouse was built. Several changes and improvements happened over the years. Tubing replaced buckets and after an unfavorable year in 2003, vacuum was added in 2004. For added efficiency a steam away was added in 2007 and a reverse osmosis (RO) system was added in 2012. Most recently in 2017 a new 4 x 12 wood fired evaporator replaced the old one.

The fifth generation has taken over a spot in the sugar house as well. In 2021 at the ages of 11 and 6, Gordon Konner and Kyle Leon purchased their own evaporator with money they earned from their farmstand. Many nights they can be found in the sugar house boiling right beside their father and grandfather. They produce and sell their own line of Tibbitts Bros. 5th Generation Pure Maple Syrup.
